Yeah, fitted not my thing either, but love a bit of detailing πŸ™ˆπŸ˜‚

unbelievable that someone would sit on the V6 anywhere, let alone Waxstock!

He's now trying to push his own brand so if he has a presence at either event it'll only be a very small affair.

At the waxstock show I caught a man and a woman who had just bought a load of stuff from my mate resting their bags on my bonnet sorting it out.....bollocking would be an understatement! You'd expect it in town or the like but not at a detailing show.

      At waxstock...

      ...and at fitteduk

I'd have gone lived as well. Fancy joining us at sports Cars in the Park, Ripon 1st Sunday in May. Good relaxed out door show with loads to see from the original mini to a mclaren.

            Small update time.

Have managed to source another set of the mag alloy Cromodora wheels, good going really as there aren't too many sets about.

Fancied them in some sort of way out colour as the car is mad enough to carry it, had a few Photoshops done and settled on yellow. Trying to find somewhere to paint mag alloy wheels isn't as easy as I thought!....they'll be off to a specialist in York to be done.

Also wanted to fit them with semi-slick tyres so went for the Yokohama AO52's

Not much will be happening until the first week in July as, although officially retired, I'm doing a 3.5 week task for a mate starting next week.

Anyhow, these aren't my wheels but they'll be this yellow and, my tyres have arrived!

              Now all done!

Brake calipers now grey instead of yellow, a few decals changed.

The guy who looks after all the cosmetic stuff on the car has a mate who builds and races VW Golfs professionally.....more importantly, he knows how to set a cars suspension up!

              https://www.allumymotorsport.co.uk/

The KW V3s have both compression and rebound adjustment. I know how compression works, I know how rebound works. I don't really understand how they compliment each other.

It's now booked in with him for a once over, corner weighting and set up.

Looking forward to see the differences.

              Anyhow, obligatory pics

Not sure if anyone either has one or is interested in suspension set ups on a Ph1 V6 however.....

The ride changed with Yokohamas fitted, it was noticeably firmer and I was happy with that....so, in it went to the racecar man!

He stuck it on the ramp to check all bushes were ok then took it out for a ride, I refused to go with him as a previous ride in a car with a professional driver was enough to last me a lifetime...I put the kettle on.

Came back and said the steering didn't react quickly enough (was fine for me) and he thought the general alignment was out here and there....how these guys can tell this from a quick drive is similar to black magic in my eyes.

Spent ages checking the compression / rebound settings and then doing the alignment....took it out for another run and said it was much better, to me if he's happy I'd be delighted with it.

Asked about corner weighting and was told to take it away and drive it for a while to make sure I was happy with it then he'd do the corner weighting as he thought it'd be well worth it......the difference in how it rides and handles now is like night and day from before he worked his magic on it.

Was good to have a nosey at the racecars.....works of art.

                    Final alignment settings..

Not sure on that as I don't recognise the name of the meet.

It has been to quite a few though so I may be mistaken?

There are a couple knocking around that are direct reproductions of the Catalunya entry in the V6 trophy race series so it may have been one of those.....mine is loosely based on that car but just with my own take on it.

                            Small update...

Managed to find myself a Janspeed exhaust system including branched manifolds. Full system is a bit of a misnomer really as there isn't much to them.

The oem system has 4 cats, very poor manifolds and is very restricted. Needless to say the new system won't be as restrictive and should make the car sound as mad as it looks.

What's going on, hopefully mid to end of September...

                                Well, all works now done.

Difference in gearboxes are very noticeable, closer ratios and shorter throw.

Exhaust is quite different. On a light throttle it's actually reasonably quiet, anything but a light throttle it can best be described as insane. The car now sounds as mad as it looks!

This is how much came off the car....
