Yeah I think I'll book mine with Renault Retail Solihull as well, just waiting for a quote from them. Spoke to my local Renault dealer as well (Sutton Park) and they said they are not using RS grade oil to service cars and basically said they are not capable enough to service RS models which does not surprise me given the quality of their mechanics.

      Hello All,

I've been lurking on this forum since getting my MK4 280 Cup a week before lock down. I absolutely love the car 😍.

It is due it's second service and was wondering what the Solihull experience / reviews are like ? I've looked at the quote on the Renault owners portal and it is coming up £195 which seems cheap to me. I don't want to book it in to receive lower grade parts or fluid. I'll be making a special trip to solihull so want to know it is worth it. Thanks Guys.

Hey welcome. I also got my RS Trophy at the end of March before lockdown, moving over from a MK7 GTI.

Just came back from Solihull after the 1st year service on my RS Trophy and they are quite busy but they are the closest RS and Alpine dealer to me. I can confirm they use the proper oil grade for RS cars (Elf 0w 40 RN17 RSA) which was the main condition I put when I booked mine in as my local Sutton Park had no clue about RS oils. I also asked the chap at the service desk this morning to confirm what oil they use just to be sure and he went around the back and showed me the oil bottle they use and was the same Elf oil as the spare in my boot. I was just surprised that the 1.8 engine only takes 4.2 litres of oil? Even the old 1.5 dci on my MK2 takes more (4.6L). They were quite fast despite how busy they were as I had the car back after 2 hours but they took it into the workshop as soon as I left their front desk.
They had another red Trophy in the workshop this morning, anyone from here?

Thanks for the update, I've booked in and will be checking the oil as well when I get there just to be certain.

I had my service at Renault Solihull yesterday. Overall I was impressed with the customer service and the actual service.

The only thing that concerned me was as soon as a member of staff got in my car they unplugged my dashcam and then failed to plug it back in when the service was finished. If they had left it alone I wouldn't have been bothered with the footage but as they fiddled with it and then didn't tell me a reason or rectify it when I collected the car I can now only be a little suspicious. I'm sure it's only to prevent "collateral intrusion" and not to hide any malpractices but it still is a little worrying.

Other than that all seemed good and I'll be returning for any upgrades and services in the future.

I always unplug mine when the car is at the dealership, I can understand why they do this when you see all sorts of stuff posted on YouTube. They won’t know if you have the microphone switched on and I wouldn’t blame them for unplugging it.
No need to be suspicious, it will be for the reason you stated.

That is a bit concerning indeed. They did not touch mine when in for service and did not have this issue when servicing other big brand of cars in the past. Good thing I have a tracker also on mine so if they plan any joyride I would know without dash cam.
